I have been horse riding in Spain for over nine years now and so I have seen and experienced many aspects of Spanish horsemanship. Indeed, I have my own (very beautiful!) horse called Luci, who is a huge ex-international show jumper. She is kept at a riding school called Los Robles which is just outside Gandia in Valencia Province, where there are some 150 different horses and ponies. In fact, Los Robles is well known for its displays of Spanish School riding and many of the shows and exhibitions within our area are performed by the owner of Los Robles on his horses.
Of course, Spain is most famous for its Spanish School and its magnificent Andalusian ‘dancing’ horses. However, to think that horse riding in Spain is only about the Spanish School and Andalusian horses would be absurd. The Spanish enjoy hacking out as much as anyone else in other countries and show jumping is also popular.
